NORTHPORT, NY — Adeline and Charlotte, bonded sisters born April 1, 2025, have been named Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kittens of the Week.

Their story, volunteers say, is one they should have never had to experience.

“Adeline and Charlotte should have never had to learn what it feels like to be thrown away,” the rescue said.

When family troubles struck their home, the sisters, along with their mother and siblings, were left outside.

“They were quite literally discarded… left on the curb like they didn’t matter, forced to fend for themselves in a world they didn’t understand,” the rescue shared.

Despite that beginning, volunteers say something remarkable happened.

“Somehow, their story didn’t harden them — it softened them.”

The sisters entered the world together and have remained inseparable ever since.

Since entering foster care, Adeline and Charlotte have blossomed into what the rescue describes as “two of the sweetest, silliest, most loving kittens you could ever meet.”

They greet people with purrs and chatter, lean into affection and play with what volunteers call “a carefree joy that seems impossible, given where they started.”

The pair has been fostered with young children, other cats and introduced to dogs, and have adjusted well in every setting.

“They are the kind of cats who make a house feel like a home,” the rescue said.

While they may look alike at first glance, each has her own unique markings.

Charlotte has soft strands of fur on her chest and a touch on her belly, while Adeline — described as the snugglier of the two — has patches of white on her chest, under her arms and along her lower belly.

Their mother has since found a home. Their siblings have as well.

“They have not received a single application,” the rescue said.

Day after day, the sisters wait at Petco in Huntington, watching other cats come and go, still hoping someone will see them “not just as two more kittens, but as two hearts that have already been through so much… and still choose love anyway.”

The sisters must be adopted together.

“They don’t need much. Just a home together,” the rescue said. “They deserve a forever family that will never let them feel thrown away again.”

Adeline and Charlotte are spayed, up to date on vaccinations, litter-box trained, microchipped, and have tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

Those interested in meeting the sisters can visit Petco in Huntington, complete an application on the Northport Cat Rescue website, call 631-606-2631 or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
