After Dental Surgery, Phantom And Sister Lena Seek Forever Home Together: Northport Kitties Of The Week
After Phantom underwent dental surgery, the pair returned to foster care to heal — and their bond grew even stronger.

NORTHPORT, NY — Phantom and Lena, Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kittens of the Week, share what volunteers describe as “a bond that is truly something special.”
Born on April 20, 2025, the siblings have already faced more challenges than most kittens their age.
While staying in the rescue’s habitats, volunteers noticed that Phantom was not doing well. According to Northport Cat Rescue Association, it was a difficult decision to return both kittens to foster care, especially knowing that time outside the public habitats can reduce adoption exposure.

“Their health and well-being always come first,” said volunteer Lora Wild.

In foster care, the reason for Phantom’s discomfort became clear: he had several severely damaged teeth that required removal. Once the painful teeth were gone, volunteers say his personality began to shine.

Phantom is now playful and curious, with a particular love for fuzzy worm toys and back scratches. He enjoys belly rubs and is gradually adjusting to feeling better.
“He will need a little patience in his new home while he builds confidence,” the rescue said, “but with Lena by his side, he’ll get there in no time.”
Lena remained close throughout her brother’s recovery. Volunteers describe her as “the definition of a love bug.” Her purring begins the moment someone looks at her, and she eagerly soaks up attention. Like Phantom, she enjoys belly rubs and thrives on companionship.
“These two are deeply bonded and must stay together,” Wild said. “Lena helps show Phantom the way, and Phantom brings out Lena’s playful side. They are the perfect pair.”

Phantom and Lena are neutered and spayed, fully vaccinated, litter box–trained, microchipped, and have tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
