“As the parent of two students who have completed the program, and a third just entering the AOF, I have always been impressed with Allison’s loyalty, dedication and leadership as the Program Director. In my capacity as an AOF Advisory Board Member for the past ten years, I can say Allison has never been satisfied with the status quo. She is constantly looking to improve the program for the students of Northport and indirectly has improved the Academy of Finance programs nationally. Allison is most deserving of this Professional Achievement Award” said John C. DeFalco, CPA, AOF Advisory Board Member and Treasurer of Northport Students Mean Business, Inc. (NSMB).
Joseph Alicata, Vice President of NSMB had this to say: “Allison’s insatiable desire to elevate the AOF program here at Northport High School is evident to all of us who work closely with her. About Us
The Academy of Finance (AOF) is a program that prepares students for a career in the Financial Services Industry. AOF is a national program established by the National Academy Foundation to develop students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in this fast-paced growth area of business. The AOF partnership bridges the gap between the classroom and the workplace by allowing students to participate in numerous shadow days, go on field trips to the world’s financial center, have many experts in the field speak to their classes and have a paid summer internship.
Northport Students Mean Business Inc.(NSMB), a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, serves as the fundraising arm of the AOF program, leveraging its capabilities as a non-profit organization to pursue fundraising opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach of the AOF program. NSMB is overseen by a dedicated Board of Directors, headed by President and AOF alumnus Connor Nolan with support from Treasurer John DeFalco, Vice President Joseph Alicata, and Director Linda Furey.
