The Northport Cat Rescue Association hopes a local adopter will look past their age, appreciate their gentle, affectionate personalities, and give them a permanent home together. Interested residents can apply through the rescue's website or contact them directly for more information.
   

• Rabid Raccoons Reported in Suffolk County (danspapers.com) — Rabid raccoons have been confirmed right in Northport, with one sick animal testing positive outside a local residence earlier this month, though no people or pets were exposed. Suffolk County is dropping thousands of oral vaccine baits across nearby towns, and residents are urged to avoid handling wildlife, report strange behavior, and keep pets' rabies shots up to date.
