Annual bread And Cheese Festival Returns To Northport HS

The "Fromage du Monde" festival returned to Northport High School. Students sampled breads and cheeses from around the world.

NORTHPORT, NY — The annual bread and cheese festival, otherwise known as the “Fromage du Monde” festival, returned to Northport High School on St. Patrick's Day, according to the school district.

The festival was hosted by the school’s French, Spanish and Italian clubs. It featured a variety of cheeses, breads, and more from countries around the world.

More than 30 students enjoyed cheeses from Italy, Mexico, Columbia, Greece, France, and more.

Students in each of the clubs support the event by making decorations, sharing announcements and creating flyers to advertise the date. Club advisors and teachers supported the event by contributing the food.

The last time the event took place was in 2019. Following the coronavirus pandemic, students and
staff were excited to experience the delicious world foods again.

IB Coordinator and French teacher Anna Kessler said that the event is intended to “show that there’s wealth in food. It’s fun to share and taste.”
