may get a major upgrade in time for the 2013 boating season, which would add 20 slips, according to plans currently being considered by the Town of Huntington.

The $1.2 million project would increase the number of slips from 34 to 54 to better accommodate demands, said Town spokesperson A.J. Carter, who added that there is a 14-year waiting list for slips.

"The current plan, while not the final plan, would add about 20 slips which is about a 40 percent increase," Carter said. "The plans are being reviewed with the Northport Village Board and we're waiting for some additional input in terms of what they would like to see there too."
