Police Identify Bicyclist Seriously Injured in East Northport Crash

The crash occurred the night of Wednesday, April 27, police say.

UPDATED Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Police have identified the bicyclist as 19-year-old Asharoken resident Ryan Brown.

A 19-year-old man is in serious condition after police say he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross an East Northport street on his bicycle on the night of Wednesday, April 27.

According to authorities, a 53-year-old East Northport man was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition northbound on Laurel Road, near Bellerose Avenue, when the bicyclist crashed into the vehicle at 10:23 p.m.

Suffolk County Police helicopter airlifted the bicyclist to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford Expedition stayed at the scene and no charges were filed.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

The bicyclist's name is being withheld pending notification of family.
