Body Of Man Who Launched Kayak From Crab Meadow Beach Found

BREAKING: The body of a 24-year-old man was found Saturday, authorities say.

The body of a 24-year-old Huntington Station man who went missing while kayaking was found off the coast of Connecticut on Saturday, authorities said.

Selvin Vasquez-Enamorado's body was found by two boaters off Clinton, Clinton Det. Sgt. Joseph Flynn said.

On Monday, with the assistance of the United States Coast Guard and the Suffolk County Police Department, the body was determined to be the remains of Vasquez-Enamorado, according to Flynn.

Flynn said the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death to be an accidental drowning.

Vasquez-Enamorado launched his kayak from Crab Meadow Beach in Fort Salonga to go fishing on June 11. When he didn't return home around 6 p.m., a friend called authorities.

The kayak has been recovered. Vasquez-Enamorado's niece told Patch that it was only her uncle's second time going kayaking when he went missing.
