Bonded Siblings Phantom, Lena Still Waiting For Home: Northport Kitties Of The Week
The bonded siblings, now healthy and thriving, are available for adoption together through Northport Cat Rescue Association.

COMMACK, NY — Phantom and Lena, bonded siblings born April 20, 2025, are Northport Cat Rescue Association’s kittens of the week.
While many kittens come into the world carefree, Phantom and Lena did not, the rescue said.
Behind their soft fur and gentle eyes is “a story of resilience, healing, and a bond that never wavered… even when things got hard,” according to Northport Cat Rescue.

While staying in the rescue’s habitat, volunteers noticed Phantom was not acting like himself.
“We knew something wasn’t right,” the rescue said. “He was uncomfortable, not himself.”

The organization made the decision to move both Phantom and Lena back into foster care — even though it meant less exposure for adoption — so Phantom could receive the care he needed.
“Sometimes moving forward means taking a step back,” the rescue said.
In foster care, the cause became clear: Phantom had multiple painful teeth that needed to be removed.
“Once the pain was gone, everything changed,” the rescue said.
Now, Phantom is beginning to come out of his shell — chasing toys, leaning into back scratches, and even offering his belly for rubs. He is still building confidence and will need patience in a new home, but volunteers say he is worth it.
Despite losing a few teeth, Phantom is eating well and continuing to improve.
And throughout his recovery, Lena never left his side.
“She is pure love,” the rescue said. “Her purring starts the moment you look at her, and she happily melts into every bit of affection.”
While Phantom healed, Lena stayed close, offering comfort and companionship. Together, the pair share a strong bond.
“Lena shows Phantom the way, and Phantom brings out Lena’s playful side,” the rescue said. “They balance each other, comfort each other, and remind each other they’re safe.”
Despite their affectionate nature, the bonded pair has not received any adoption applications, according to the rescue.
Like many bonded kittens, they are often overlooked.
“No applications. No one asking to meet them,” the rescue said.
Phantom and Lena are looking for a home together, where Phantom can continue to build confidence and Lena can share her affectionate personality.
“They don’t need much — just a home together,” the rescue said.
Phantom and Lena are spayed and neutered, fully vaccinated, litter box–trained, microchipped, and FELV/FIV negative.
Those interested in meeting them can visit Petco in Commack, apply through the Northport Cat Rescue website, call 631-606-2631, or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
