The Purple Elephant is a small, family-owned eatery that was recently advised by the Village of Northport that they are not approved to be a restaurant, according to the establishment.

Since the restaurant cannot continue to operate without this approval, The Purple Elephant is reaching out to the community.

“We do not want to move our business elsewhere as this is the town we live in and love so much, but, we will be forced to go if the Village does not approve us as a restaurant and allow us to continue to operate as such.”

The Purple Elephant offers vegan and non vegan foods as well as many gluten-free options for its customers.

The menu provides tastes of many different foods around the world, including Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico.

The Purple Elephant says, “We are known for our delicious food and the many options we provide for those with dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, hormone/antibiotic/GMO free ). We are not known as a bar, nor do we attract a raucous, partying crowd. “
