Contact NYS supporting EO Property Tax Postponement

NYS Property Taxes for Long Islanders are due January 10, 2021-do Homeowner's need Extended time frames? Yes we do. Read.

Maryann Maltese, a licensed Real Estate Associate with Cow Harbor Realty-and a former Communications Manager with NYS Legislature is encouraging Governor Andrew Cuomo to review the Executive Order 202-and grant extended time frames to Primary Homeowners, or to provide payment plans without fees and interest penalties assessed after January 10, 2021.

Covid 19 Pandemic Orders remain in effect; renters have been issued extended time frames to pay their rent; but the small homeowner is at a loss with Executive Order Protections as they are not included within present day Executive Order Extended Protections. Many homeowners on Long Island; especially in Huntington, North Babylon and West Islip own 1-2 family occupancies or live in residences over a small business. These Primary Homeowners are the ones not included in the present EO language providing EO protections; but many aren't earning incomes or enough income due to the nature of their employment and the nature of reduced employment due to social distancing. If you are not meeting income requirements this year; some might be eligible for SNAP or State Health Insurance coverages due to the nature of Pandemic. I always suggest processing applications for these things which because of Pandemic-circumstances should be taken into consideration. Those of us on special diets; I understand food pantries watch out for you-but the issuance of SNAP provides you with control of your food purchases-I great thing. You can apply fro SNAP online or at the Local offices; located at 2 S. 2nd Street Deer Park, NY. Also touch base with NYS Insurance Market as it's open enrollment time, if one is not covered by their parents and not in school-touching base with the NYS Insurance Market will evaluate your individual circumstances and guide you on plans and coverages https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov. It may be necessary for a family to apply individually or as a group depending on ages of your children. Don't be frustrated-approval of subsidized insurances are age sensitive.

As the State Legislature continues to meet daily in Special Session times; I encourage NYS Homeowners to email the Governor's Office and your Local State Representative to advocate for you. I live in the 12th NYS Assembly District; we have been without a Member since June 2019; not good for the People of the 12th AD, said Maryann Maltese. Maryann was denied access to the Election ballot due Judaical-Suffolk Supreme Court only-not because I do not have the credentials to be the Member.

I encourage you all to be Proactive in your communications with NYS Representatives as it's NYS Representatives that set the requirements for Extending Time Frames to pay State Property Taxes, as well as to set the requirements for State Property Tax Exemptions which are implemented or facilated by local Township Tax Authorities. Huntington, Babylon and Islip Townships are not in position to "change language of the property exemptions or to change date of acceptance of your property taxes-Only NYS is".

I'm happy to discuss any individual situations with homeowners as a courtesy if one needs help. Those that are interested in other real estate ventures-feel free to contact me. Maryann has over 30 years of industry knowledge and you can reach me at Maryann.maltese@bhgliving.com
