Cops: Phone Scam Complaint, Criminal Trespass and More
Some of the incidents Northport Police responded to recently.

Here are some of the incidents Northport Police responded to recently. None of the defendants has been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed below. All complaints in the report are only alleged crimes under local investigation.
Arrests
- Police arrested a 46-year-old Northport man on Butler Place for for robbery and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood on Oct. 13.
- A woman from Ridings Gate surrendered to police on an active bench warrant and was released on $200 bail on Oct. 13.
- A 48-year-old Commack woman was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass on Oct. 14.
- A 60-year-old Centerport man was arrested on Oct. 18 for leaving the scene of a crash and driving while intoxicated
- A 23-year-old East Northport man was arrested on Oct. 19 for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

- Police responded to Dogwood Road on Oct. 16 after receiving a report of a suspicious phone call. When police arrived, a woman said that an unknown person had called, stating he was a police officer and had her grandson in jail and that she should send $5,000 dollars to him with money cards. Realizing it was a scam, the woman contacted this police and filed a report.
- Police responded to a call on Horseshoe Drive on Oct. 17, regarding a matter with a plumbing company. The resident claimed to have retained a plumbing company, Hux Services for an issue with a heating unit. A repairman was sent to the house determined that there were some faulty parts and needed money to purchase new parts. The resident gave him money and was issued a receipt for the money. When he returned and installed the parts, he determined that the unit needed additional parts. Again the resident gave the repairman the money and they scheduled a time for the repair. Before the repair could be made it was determined that the repairman had been attempting to take over the business from the business owner without his knowledge. According to the the resident, the repairman had been arrested by Suffolk County Fifth Squad for issues with other customers. The proper business owner contacted the resident and stated he would make all the necessary repairs. Northport Police filed a report for informational purposes and filed with Suffolk County Police.
