Traffic Slowed as Crane Lifts ACs on Main Street

The physical therapist's office under construction between Skipper's and Bistro 44 replaced old air conditioning units.

Traffic was slowed Thursday morning while LFG Rigging replaced air-conditioning units on a new business under construction next to on Main Street.

The building formerly housed the Northport Village Gourmet Deli, but the deli closed last year. Physical therapist Thomas Gruhn is currently renovating the property in to an office. His current office is on Larkfield Road in East Northport.

At its March 8 meeting, the approved closing down part of Main Street at Woodbine for an early-morning hour so that the AC units would not have to go over Main Street when removed and replaced.

Highway Department Superintendent Tim Drew and Village Administrator Gene Guido were on hand to supervise the work.
