Drunk Man Drove Into A Large Boulder: Northport Police
A man was charged with a DWI after driving into a boulder. Two other DWI charges and several other incidents occurred in Northport Village.
NORTHPORT, NY–Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from May 20 through May 27.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

- John Nistico, 55, of Jericho, allegedly drove into a large boulder after drifting from his lane and onto the lawn at 65 Fort Salonga Road. He was driving unlicensed and had no/expired insurance, police say. He was arrested and charged with a DWI on May 20.
- Karen Oliviero, 57, of Smithtown, allegedly swerved all over multiple lanes near Fort Salonga Road and Waterside Road per a complaint made by the driver behind her. Her breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, her speech was slurred and she performed poorly on field sobriety tests, police say. She was arrested and charged with a DWI on May 24.
- Marcia Grimes, 62, of Northport, allegedly drove all over multiple lanes on Fort Salonga Road and crossed over the double yellow line on Woodbine Avenue, per a complaint made by the driver behind her. Her breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, her speech was slurred and she performed poorly on field sobriety tests, police say. Grimes allegedly told police she drank two glasses of wine at a party. She was arrested and charged with a DWI on May 24.

- A woman reported a telephone scam after someone called her stating she had a warrant out for her arrest, and that she would be arrested if she didn't pay them. The incident happened May 20.
- A man had a nosebleed and refused medical attention on Laurel Avenue on May 20.
- A dog was left in a car with the windows closed on Avenue B on May 20, but the car had left by the time police arrived.
- A woman had leg pain and was transported to Huntington Hospital after calling 911 on May 20.
- A porta potty was found in the street on Blydenburgh Court on May 21.
- A woman was having difficulty breathing and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 23.
- An unregistered car was left parked on Church Street for weeks without being moved. A parking ticket was issued on May 23.
- Northport police assisted Suffolk police with a car accident involving a pedestrian on Fort Salonga Road on May 24.
- There was a domestic incident on Franklin Street on May 24.
- A man was reported unresponsive laying on the front steps of an Ocean Avenue building, but the responding officer couldn't find anyone. The incident happened on May 24.
- A woman lost her handbag on Woodbine Avenue on May 24.
- A drunk man needed medical attention and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 24.
- A woman was potentially having a stroke and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 24.
- A man was injured from a fall and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 25.
- A man was flying a drone and left the area without incident after being told the ordinances regarding drone operation on May 25.
- A woman brought a lost purse to police headquarters, and police returned it to the owner on May 25.
- A man suffered a head injury after a fall and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 25.
- A woman fell off a ladder and suffered a head injury and laceration to her head, and was transported to Huntington Hospital on May 25.
- A complaint was made about a leaf blower being left on for hours on Cathy Court, but the area was quiet when police arrived on May 25.
- A loose dog with no identification was found on Burt Avenue, and was transported to the police station. The owner retrieved the dog. The incident happened May 25.
- Someone was driving recklessly in Lot 1 of Constitution Square; they were driving in the wrong direction, speeding and hit the caller's kayak. Though the kayak wasn't damaged, the officer issued a ticket to the driver for disobeying pavement markings on May 25.
- A dog entered a man's backyard on Laurel Street, and the caller believes the dog is coming from Burt Avenue. The person interviewed said the dog belongs to her son, and she'll tell him to repair the hole in the fence the dog gets out from. The officer told the woman her son could receive a ticket for violating village code if the dog continues to leave his house.
