East Northport Elementary Student by Day, 8-Year-Old Fashion Designer by Night
This Dickinson Avenue Elementary School student already has an impressive fashion designer career.

This East Northport fashion designer may be only 8 years old, but her creations have already been on display at New York City Fashion Week.
Lia Edlin Miller, a student at Dickinson Avenue Elementary School, began taking sewing lessons after she was inspired by the television show “Project Runway.”
Miller participated in a young designer’s competition where she created pieces using Crayola crayon wrappers for New Jersey Fashion week. She was then invited to participate in a children’s showcase at New York Fashion Week in February.

Miller started modeling at age seven and had previously modeled at the children’s showcase.
She received special recognition for her accomplishments from Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and the Town Board at a Tuesday meeting.

Petrone expects to see Miller on the television one day. “She has proven to be a special, special person,” he said.
