East Northport Home Damaged From Blaze
One person was evaluated by EMS personnel at the scene for smoke inhalation, fire officials say.
Firefighters tried to keep the property damage to a minimum while battling a house fire in East Northport on Monday afternoon.
According to fire officials, the East Northport Fire Department responded to the Barry Drive home and worked to extinguish a fire located in a rear room at 12:08 p.m.
The scene was under control in about 20 minutes and the fire was extinguished with minimal spreading to other areas of the home. Property damage was also kept to a minimum.

One person was evaluated by EMS personnel at the scene for smoke inhalation, fire officials say.
About 40 members of the East Northport Fire Department responded to the scene using three engines, an aerial ladder, two ambulances, a paramedic unit, a fire police unit and two rehab/support units. All units were under the command of Chief Dan Heffernan and Assistant Chiefs Dan Flanagan and Tom Bourne.

The Cyanide Response Team also responded to the scene. The team was provided by paramedics from the Dix Hills Fire Department, Greenlawn Fire Department and the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Mutual aid was provided by the Northport Fire Department with a Rapid Intervention Team at the scene, and the Commack Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps stood by with an engine and ambulance for additional alarms.
