East Northport Knights Of Columbus Raise $8.5K For Childhood Cancer Research

The Fr. Thomas A. Judge Knights of Columbus team earned top fundraising honors after raising more than $8,500 at a St. Baldrick's event.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — A local Knights of Columbus team is celebrating both a successful fundraiser and a meaningful step forward in the fight against childhood cancer.

The Fr. Thomas A. Judge Knights of Columbus St. Baldrick’s team raised more than $8,500 during the recent St. Baldrick’s “BIG Shave” event, held at Miller’s Ale House in Commack, according to organizers.

The annual event, which invites participants to shave their heads in solidarity with children battling cancer, brought together community members for a day marked by both energy and purpose. Members of the Knights team joined in the effort as “Shavees,” helping generate donations that support pediatric cancer research.

The team’s efforts also earned them the event’s Top Fundraising Team award.

Team captain Bob Slingo credited the outcome to the group effort behind the fundraiser, pointing to the commitment of participants and the generosity of donors who contributed to the cause.

Organizers said donations are still being accepted to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. Contributions made to the foundation are tax-deductible.
