East Northport Man Critically in Injured 4-Car Hauppauge Crash
Sun glare may have been a factor in crash Thursday morning, police say.

Police are investigating a four-car in crash in Hauppauge Thursday morning that critically injured a Northport man.
According to police, Anthony Barbato, of Islip Terrace, was driving a black 2007 Dodge pickup truck east on Veterans Memorial Highway at 7:13 a.m. when his vehicle struck a blue 2007 Dodge pickup truck and a Subaru Legacy before one of those vehicles struck a Nissan Pathfinder.
The three vehicles had been stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of New Highway.

The driver of the 2007 Dodge, John Purstell, 53, of East Northport, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The 54-year-old female driver of the Subaru, the 41-year-old female driver of the Nissan and Barbato, 43, were all transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown with minor injuries.

Following a preliminary investigation, it appears sun glare was a contributing factor in the crash, police said. The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
