She founded Angels for Warriors, a veteran advocacy nonprofit, in 2012.
An East Northport resident who founded a nonprofit that helps veterans obtain various benefits was recently honored by community leaders at her organization’s benefit dinner on Nov. 9.
Rogerlyn Cipriano founded Angels for Warriors in 2012 after her brother, Sergeant Angel Velez, who was severely injured from serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, was having trouble receiving benefits.
Velez, who also serves as the organization’s executive director, was inspired to make sure all returning warriors would receive the help they need and deserve.
