Elwood Students Collect 150 Pounds of Candy for Our Troops
The students gave the troops and veterans a sweet message.

Students at Elwood Middle School showed their gratitude towards troops and veterans by collecting candy and treats from Nov. 1-11 to donate to various organizations.
More than 150 pounds of candy and treats were collected by the Elwood Middle School Student Council. The school sent the donations to Operation Gratitude in California to send overseas, along with other Armed Forces agencies and veterans as a way to say thank you.
“The students included thank you notes to thank these brave men and women for their service,” said Student Council advisor Martine Pirolo. “We donated the extra treats to Helping Hands Mission of Long Island to use for their holiday baskets for needy families in the Huntington area.”
