Days Before Home Sale, Callie Was Rescued, Now She Needs A Forever Home: Northport Kitty Of The Week
Callie, a friendly and gentle tortie, was brought to safety after being found outside a home about to be closed.

NORTHPORT, NY — Callie, Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kitty of the Week, is a petite tortoiseshell cat estimated to be about 2 years old, with a striking coat and “the prettiest, expressive eyes,” according to rescue volunteers.
Her gentle presence is the kind that “quickly wins hearts,” said rescue volunteer Lora Wild.
Callie’s story began when she was being cared for by a woman who later moved into assisted living. As the woman’s family prepared the home for sale over several months, they continued feeding Callie, who would often come inside to eat — showing just how friendly and trusting she was.

“The house was set to close in just a few days,” the rescue said.
Recognizing how affectionate she was, volunteers quickly stepped in to arrange for her to be safely trapped and brought into care.
Callie was successfully rescued and placed into a loving foster home.
Since then, she has shown just how sweet she truly is.
“She’s affectionate, happy, and sometimes a little lazy,” the rescue said, noting she is perfectly content basking in the sunshine from a nearby window.
Callie gets along well with other cats and is also comfortable around a calm dog, making her a great fit for a variety of homes.
“She is the cutest little girl who everyone falls in love with the moment they meet her,” the rescue added.
Callie is currently waiting for her forever family at Petco in Commack. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, litter box–trained, microchipped, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
Those interested in meeting Callie — or any of the cats and kittens available through Northport Cat Rescue — can fill out an adoption application on the organization’s website, call 631-606-2631 or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
