Fire Destroys East Northport Home [VIDEO]

The Sunday morning blaze is under investigation.

An East Northport home was completely gutted by a blaze that broke out Sunday morning.

According to fire officials, about 50 East Northport firefighters responded to a fully engulfed two-story home on Elmbark Lane at 1:42 a.m. It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control.

No one was injured from the blaze and the home was unoccupied, fire officials say. News 12 reports the home was recently sold.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal.

The East Northport Fire Department responded to the blaze with six trucks, two rescue ambulances and paramedic units. All units were under the command of of Chief Dan Heffernan and Assistant Chiefs Dan Flanagan and Tom Bourne.

The Commack Fire Department also assisted at the scene with a Rapid Intervention Team. The Town of Huntington Cyanide Response Team as well as the Dix Hills, Greenlawn and Commack Ambulances also responded to the scene. Northport and Greenlawn fire departments provided standby coverage.
