Heavy Blaze Breaks out in Garage of East Northport Home
One person was treated for smoke inhalation Saturday afternoon, fire officials say.
Firefighters battled a heavy blaze that broke out in an attached garage of an East Northport home Saturday afternoon.
According to fire officials, members of the East Northport Fire Department responded to the Arleigh Road home to discover the fire at 4:21 p.m.
Crews worked to extinguish the blaze and got the flames under control in 40 minutes. The fire was extinguished with minimal spreading to other areas of the property and damage was kept at a minimum, according to the East Northport Fire Department.

One person was evaluated by EMS for smoke inhalation.
The East Northport Fire Department responded to the scene with three engines, an aerial ladder, three ambulances, a paramedic unit, a fire police unit, two rehab/support units as well as a Cyanide Response Team. The Dix Hills and Greenlawn fire departments and the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps also provided assistance at the scene.

Mutual aid was provided by the Kings Park Fire Department with a FAST team at the scene. The Northport Fire Department was on standby with an engine and ambulance.
