ICYMI: Stranger Danger Incident in Northport

A man made crude comments to a teenage girl while she was riding her bicycle earlier this week, police say.

Northport Police are looking to identify a man who made crude comments to a teenage girl while she was riding her bicycle Monday night.

According to authorities, the 14-year-old was at the intersection of Stone Court and Stone Drive when a man in a red pickup truck drove up to the girl and made crude remarks to her at 6 p.m.

The girl, who was frightened from the incident, dropped her bicycle, ran away and called 911, police say.

Police described the man as white or Hispanic, in his 30s, with dark hair, clean shaven and wearing a yellow shirt and sunglasses. He was reportedly driving a small, dark red pickup truck (possibly a Nissan or Toyota.)

The Suffolk County and Asharoken Police Departments and the Northport-East Northport School District have been notified of this incident.
