'Ink Stories: Symbols Of Service' First Photo Session Announced

NORTHPORT, NY–The first photography session for "Ink Stories: Symbols of Service" will be held June 18 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m at the Northport Library.

"Ink Stories: Symbols of Service" is a showcase being planned by the Northport-East Northport Public Library, set to launch November 2019. The photographer will be taking photos of military-inspired tattoos as a means to share the stories behind them and honor military veterans.

Kathryn Heaviside, a librarian and the gallery coordinator, encourages any service men and woman who would like to participate to contact her and let her know they plan to attend. She can be reached at 631-261-6930 or kathryn.heaviside@nenpl.org.

Tattoos will be photographed and accompanied by a brief write up of your experience and the story behind the tattoo. Heaviside will design a 24x36 poster with an image of the tattoo(s) and veteran's story, print it and mount it on a board. The boards will be featured in the galleries found at either of the Northport-East Northport library buildings for the month of November. A public reception will take place, where people can meet and honor local military veterans.
