John Glenn Student Selected as National Youth Delegate

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School junior Gina Maletta has recently been selected as a National Youth Delegate for the 2017 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University this upcoming summer.
Gina is one out of only 250 students from across the country that have been asked to participate in the intensive week-long program on environmental science leadership and conservation.
To be chosen for the summit, a student must hold strong academic achievements, as well as demonstrate interest and excellent leadership skills in science and conservation studies. Gina was nominated by her science teacher Maria Aiello based these skills.

The Washington Youth Summit on the Environment will be held from June 25-30 and include distinguished faculty members, guest speakers and access to elite D.C. practitioners. The leadership conference was created to encourage and grow future leaders in the field of environmental studies and conservation in the 21st century.
“It’s pretty cool to be selected for this,” said Gina. “I like the environment so it’s exciting because it really fits my interest.”
