'Large-Scale' Dealer Had Over 100 Pounds Of Marijuana In East Northport Home: Police

The marijuana trafficker also had a loaded Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun in his home along with various drug paraphernalia, police say.

An East Northport man who police say was a wholesale drug dealer was arrested Thursday after police seized more than a hundred pounds of marijuana from his home.

Authorities issued a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of Larkfield Road and seized 106 pounds of marijuana, a loaded Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, numerous boxes of shotgun shells, 120 envelopes of wax THC extract, a digital gram scale, laptop computer, money counting machines and two cellphones, police say.

The resident of the home, 33-year-old Steven Cheseborough, was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a Class C felony.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini said this bust is the “largest single seizure of marijuana” since Suffolk County Police implemented their enhanced narcotics strategy.

Sini said some might comment that it’s not important to go after marijuana dealers, as marijuana is not as serious of a drug as heroin, for example.

“When dealing with large-scale marijuana traffickers, they attract violence,” Sini said. “They often attract home invasions because there’s a lot of money in this business and drug dealers know that so they’ll target known marijuana deals.”

Sini said Cheseborough knew he was at risk to be targeted by drug dealers and robbers, which is why he armed himself.

“The message is very clear,” Sini said at a Thursday press conference. “If you’re dealing drugs in Suffolk County, the Suffolk County Police Department is coming for you.”
