Larkfield Road Improvements Extended
The project that began in 2002 will continue.

The East Northport Chamber of Commerce has secured an additional $350,000 to extend the antique-style lamp posts and brick sidewalk pavers along Larkfield Road.
Board Member Michael Karp announced that $300,000 was granted by the and was approved by the Town Board at its April meeting. This allocation will be drawn from the Neighborhood Enhancement Fund and added to $50,000 of Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization grant money.
“With the balance of $80,000 remaining from phase two of the project, this added
money will now allow the East Northport Chamber, under the auspices of the Town of Huntington, to further extend this project further south along Larkfield Road,” Karp said.
Phase one of this project began in 2002 on the north side of the train station and
extended to Fifth Avenue. Phase two, in 2006, continued south to 4th Avenue. This
$430,000 will place as many lamp posts and brick pavers as the budget allows towards Clay Pitts Road.
Karp stated he will work with the Town Engineering Department in getting this project scheduled. It is hopeful construction will begin this Fall. With the completion of this third phase, the section of Larkfield Road from the train station north to Clay Pitts will have undergone nearly a two million dollar restoration. Combing this with the banners, hanging flower baskets, planting and maintenance of the area flower planters and in the winter, hanging green wreaths and the overhead holiday lighting, the Chamber has made enormous strides in beautifying the East Northport corridor.
