Maltese asks Governor to extend Income Tax July 15th Deadline.

Whereas, Whereas, Maryann Maltese, former NYS Regional Planner and Communications Manager submits a statement requesting the Governor to introduce a new extender bill that would grant an additional time extension to pay their Income State Taxes due on July 15th to after Labor Day due to Covid 19 Pandemic.

Part of the reason I have asked for this extender bill to be introduced and passed immediately is because the new Law; also adds a 2.25% credit card processing fee for those residents who can not pay their Income Taxes by Cash or Bank Account.

Many residents of the 12th AD are classified as non-essential staffers and/or own small businesses in the community. As Long Island is in Phase 4; we simply are not ready to make required State Income Tax Payments by July 15th and if one can not-they should not be subjected to the 2.25% credit card surcharge processing fee if they do so.

Re. An additional extended time frame to Submit State Income Taxes

Dear Governor Cuomo,

I am writing to request that you push back once again-or extend collection of State Income Taxes until after Labor Day.

Long Island is in Phase 4, but we are simply not ready to pay 2019 State Income taxes. Many of us are not earning income in 2020 to off-set state income taxes now due on July 15, 2020. Residents are standing on food lines and applying for SNAP benefits trying to use whatever cash resources they have saved to keep their housing in place or pay child care.

Schools are still closed, summer camps are closed and parents are home with their kids-not fully ready to pay their 2019 state income taxes with an additional 2.25 surcharge if they do so on their credit cards. This is outrageous during Pandemic Covid 19 State of Emergency orders to keep the credit card surcharge in place fully knowing many of us are cash-strapped. Perhaps you want to eliminate that surcharge today Sir?!

I appreciate your consideration on behalf of myself and all the wonderful families that live in the 12thAssembly District. Whereas, Whereas; a great state is only as great as the people that reside in the Great Assembly District # 12-that would be my people-Small business owners-Hair dressers-Barber Shops, Mom-Pop clothing stores and Small town business districts.
