Maltese-Introduce Bill to Refund CE Electrical-Fire

Maryann Maltese, Candidate for NYS Assembly 12th AD-elaborates on her platform for the upcoming Legislative Session 2020. I would like to introduce a bill that would refund or allow Volunteer Fighters who take course or courses necessary in electrical engineering to be permitted to cap/extinguish PSEG Electrical Wiring Fires and to be allowed to be refunded or credited for CE advancements, said Maryann Maltese. With the recent poor PSEG response time of responding and repairing Main Line Electrical Fires left burning in certain areas for hours without a game plan on how to extinguish the fire for 14 hours-isn't practical or within FIRE safety Codes, said Maltese. If local Volunteer Fire Department members have CE Electrical Management certifications permitting them to work or touch PSEG property- then saving lives, reducing property damages impact would be much better-and the response time in handling a massive outages or calls for help would be reduced, said Maryann Maltese. We can not stop-Weather oriented emergencies from occurring-but we can be much more proactive in who and how we respond-and providing Volunteer Fire Department Members-who respond to electrical fire issues have the certifications they need-and want to be involved in-I will help them get there by having my Legislative Bill introduced immediately, said Maltese. The mission for NYS Legislature-someone like myself who has the Administrative-Crisis Management background is too help those in First Responder positions to respond to emergencies with the best CE credentials, equipment to do so- and if NYS can help local Fire Department Staffers who wish to take an Electrician's course resulting in these Volunteer Fighter being Permitted to extinguish electrical fires by wires owned by PSEG- that move legislatively- it's a win-win for the community, said Maryann Maltese

Specs of the Legislation would require that those who receive the Certification paid for or reimbursed by Governmental Authority to provide continued services for two years-that's the normal amount of time of service required when NYS or a Governmental Body provides for reimbursement, said Maltese. Taking such courses can or may be provided by BOCES or Suffolk Community College is a good possibility- or a Certifying Electrical Apprentice Program recognized by NYS and Industry Professionals is also a possibility-because the idea is to ensure that First Responders who Volunteer have the certifications they need and I'm a fan, said Maltese.

My father was a Licensed Electrician, and received his certification while in the Merchant Marines-he too raved of his glory-and utilized his electricians craft voluntarily for many people or community based organizations-I come from good Stock-said Maryann. Those Volunteer Fire Fighters who want to continue with their education or take courses that will improve safety response time and time management of crisis management calls is good sense measure. I would be happy to discuss ways in which to improve about the language of the bill going forward-but I believe the above is a good start. It was under my watch-where Members of NYC Fire Department and Volunteer Fire Departments received due compensation for participating in 9-11 Terror Acts. Many Inactive Fire Fighters were called to deal with the blaze of 9-11 and below is my commitment to further ensure our good works-because together-we truly can make a difference, said Maltese.

This Volunteer Fire Fighters Safety-Electrical Course Reimbursement bill introduction will expand upon my commitment to First Responders with State of Emergency, County of Emergency, or when Weather oriented warnings are in place. I've also suggested that when County or State Weather Warnings have been Authorized-that PSEG be dispatched to 9-11 Centers-in our case Local Precincts-2hours before hand-to ensure Scheduling organization and preparations are achieved. Communication, response time and how one who does respond can assist with a 9-11 call-like extinguishing electrical wiring fires of the major utilities like PSEG is what's needed-and I'll introduce this bill too.

Both Bills are separate matters because we don't want to compromise on one for the other-both are good common sense measures which if need to be Legislated-will be once I'm in Albany, said Maryann Maltese.

I encourage Volunteer Fire Fighters and Emergency responders active, inactive status to participate in the upcoming PSEG roundtable discussions, so together-work can be achieved. I also encourage local Members and Neighbors to touch base with me on their experiences, said Maltese.

I have previously shared the photos of the fire on my lawn in Patch Articles-it burnt for 14 hours-that's unacceptable response time by PSEG-if the tail of Tropical Storm Isaasis had taken it's full raft of glory-it would have been far worse emergency situation right here in East Northport.

I encourage neighbors to share photo's or your story of Fire Devastation that was not properly responded too or managed by PSEG. A response window for a live Electrical Fire-left without fully extinguishing it should be no longer 2 hours tops-this is why I'm vigilant in ensuring that change in Communication changes and that new ways of helping our Volunteer First Responders be credited and permitted to take Electrical Fire Safety courses to allow them to put out PSEG fires, said Maltese.
