Maltese-No Fees to Take Licensing Exams or Civil Service Exams
Maryann Maltese-Legislative Bill Proposal to permit those on Unemployment Benefits-Medicaid free State and Local Civil Service Exams.
Maryann Maltese- Democratic Candidate, NYS Assembly 12th AD-Calls upon the Governor to permit those on NYS Unemployment Benefits-Medicaid/Fidelis or PUA Unemployments to be permitted to take NYS, Suffolk County, Local Municipal Civil Service Exams for FREE or No Fee.
The impact of COVID 19 and State of Emergency Orders of March 7, 2020-still in effect on Long Island has devastated the economy-many workers or small business owners still furloughed or social distancing and need a little assistance getting back into the swing of things. Suffolk County permits those on Social Service Programs and/or Fidelis Participants authorization to claim Civil Exam Fees. Those of us on Unemployment-whether UIB or PUA-should also be permitted to claim exam fees or be granted authorization to take licensing requirements to get them back into the workforce.
That is Proactive Measure that eases the financial burden of those of us on NYS DOL UIB or PUA benefits. Many of these exam fees cost between $40.00-$110.00 dollars out of pocket. Presently PUA recipients are only permitted $300.00 per week to claim their benefits. If we're not earning income and trying to get back into the workforce-it's clear to me that NYS needs to take it up a notch and help those of us eligible to pay these NYS, Suffolk County or Municipal Civil Service or NYS DOS Licensing Fee exams. It makes good economic sense and supports the mission of NYS to to continue to Social Distance ourselves while keeping ourselves up-to-date of NYS Licensure or new Job Opportunities Public Service exams. Reach out to the Governor's office @ http://www.governor.ny.gov/contact, 518-474-8390-to share some insight and if you're supportive of Maltese's recommendation.

Maryann Maltese, former NYS Communications Manager, Chief of Staff for multiple Members of the NYS Legislature has a strong background in NYS Economic Development Projects between Downstate and L.I. Region. Maryann-has worked on rebuilding Failing Medical Systems such as (NYHQ-LIJ-North Shore University-aka Northwell, Massive Economic Development Projects-including (Revitalization of Brooklyn Peers, Cleanup of Brown's Fields, such as the Silvana Electric Plant-and others), Dredging Projects where "Swamps-stagnant masses of Water"-pollution with no Flushing Tunnel for decades-and then NYS DEC comes in developing Massive Cleanups with NYS Legislature- in order to protect Ecological Habitats surrounding the newest cry for help Project-the " Swamp" (Maltese's name) presently located Behind LIPA-Northport Station-cleanup project that MUST happen. Does anyone disagree-even with the recent Settlement? Reach out-happy to hear from constituents. Let me know if someone has a Better Plan of Action than the Maltese Plan-I listen too-but I have strong feeling my Plan is good.
Maryann knows how to get Albany to wake up and smell the Long Island Sound-which should be pristine and Clean near residential communities abutting the LIPA Swamp. Instead of accepting more of the Norm-Leaders advising that we should accept settlement offers-to help defry costs for poor management of the surrounding Environment-like let's pretend this didn't already occur twice in history-in the last 2 decades-perhaps; pro-active measures such as; ohh the installation of Flushing Tunnels in the Swamp and maybe dredging of some sort needs to be installed or scheduled at that property asap to reduce pollution and promote rehabilitation of the Eco-systems around LIPA Northport Property.
