Maltese & what the National Platform's need to address for Women

Maryann Maltese, encourages CUOMO to step up and reminds the community to check in on Convention Highlights

With the signing of the 19th Amendment today, signifies the final ratification of the Women's Right to Vote. Legislation can pass both houses, but if not signed into Law-can become stale or Veto- this is why 100 years ago-many of the women involved in the Suffrage March were vigilant in ensuring that the 19th Amendment was signed. This is what I'm vigilant too-as true Fairness in Wages for Women is very much still a reality even today, said Maryann Maltese. Maryann Maltese, Democratic Candidate for NYS Assembly 12th AD-former Regional Communications Manager for NYS Legislature promotes that today's signing 100 years ago of the 19th Amendment was the the pinnacle moment Women's right to vote -ensured that our other Civil Liberties took precedent, said Maltese.

It's been an interesting journey since then, Women have achieved many things, today's our day to celebrate-I have attached my a photo of my daughter, Kayla with Eileen at the Legislative Compound-1995, said Maryann. Eileen C. Dugan, the first NYS Assemblywoman to Chair, the Powerful Economic Development Committee. Eileen stood for Wage Fairness, sadly she passed in 1996- 25 years later-Women are still waiting for Wage Fairness within NYS Legislature. I will be that force in Albany-once elected.

As women, our job isn't done yet-because the need to make equal wages for job performances is still necessary in many fields, especially within NYS Legislature in non-Member roles, said Maltese. There is still large improportional difference for women who sign or issued employment contracts where they are still not being paid 100 pennies for every dollar earned as our Male Counterparts in the same role. My statement is not a reflection towards hatred of men-as there are many good men out there who feel the same way-that when work performances are met-equality in wages is achieved, said Maryann

There is still need today to enforce measures that require Women be paid equal pay for equal work. Federally this rule is on the books, but when it comes to State implementations-it's up to the individual Leaders of Each State to ensure compliance by employers-and NYS is one of the Largest At-Will Employers for NYS. This is why I'm vigilant on the matter-because NYS has not kept it's process to our own Women employed within the NYS Legislature-and casting it off again-asking us to take a step back and wait-after work performances achieved is not common business practices, said Maltese. We worked-we accomplished-we met deadlines, then we expect our Employer NYS to take it seriously when a complaint is filed for review and amble compensation to be rendered, said Maltese.

Women who serve in the Armed Forces, or as Police Officers-make the same starting salaries, but Administrative Staffers-Roles in Management inside Public Officer Roles such as the NYS Legislative -still are not paid equal because there is no Union or office within the Legislature for them to turn too to ask-Can you review my employment contract with me, said Maltese. NYS should know better, and today-is the day for NYS to make good on promises Governor Cuomo has stated in the Women's Agenda from 2017-2020. I heard the commitment speech to the cause-what has not occurred is implementation of justice. Implementation of measures is needed- NOW not just more talk-I can write the best speeches and talking points within minutes before a Member takes position, but when you pull back the layers of Speech writing, a Manager like me understands-that Fairness in Wages is not the present reality for NYS Public Legislative Officers within NYS Legislature, said Maltese.

Today, it can be changed and NYS can deliver on their promises to Women-its not impossible to achieve. I'm advocating today as a Member of OMCE; as I'm a former Manager too-Tier 3, Tier 4 NYS Public Employees have the worse Employment Packages one can review. It's not rhertoric-it's the reality. We have not received Cost of Living Allowances as active employees and inactive employees their percentage is slashed and has not been re-delivered to us. We have signed employment contracts-NYS must deliver to us, said Maryann Maltese. I have 18 years of direct service as Management within NYS Legislature and within the last 10 years, two additional Tier Systems 5 and 6 have been created further reducing benefits-making the middle group Tier 3 and Tier 4-the step child of the Legislature. It's Tiers 3 and Tier 4-tenured staffers who preformed aging to retirement, now in jeopardy of asking for Food Stamps-that's unacceptable, said Maltese By reducing Governmental Employee Benefits to bare bone thresholds; taking away our ability for reimbursement for any and all work related expenses; including reimbursement for College Courses, CE- not providing equal pay scale structures at the time of Signing Employment contracts when career titles are agreed upon needs to change, said Maltese. Those of us who reached Tenure of Service-with Job Performances met-there is no question that Legislative Action needs to be taken now-and for Women-today is our day. Where are the Laws advising me I'm wrong?, said Maltese. I'm quite happy to learn so.

On the Federal Level-when Armed Forces retire and these Comrades become Veterans- and it is determined that they have not received due compensation of their response to duty-Legislative Forces come through and we make the changes necessary to compensate them accordingly. Those of us on the Administrative sideline-the Legislative Branches-we too must depend on Legislative Measures to correct employment injustices when fairness in wages for performances met is documented, and needs corrective legislative measures, said Maltese.

I'm one of these NYS Public Officer Women-in good Public Service Standing, who met expectations during Service (above and beyond) is well documented and today-I'm reminding my Comrades-My Peers here we are are, said Maltese My male counterparts in Management Titles made 50-60% more than me and we in NYS Legislature (past and present) have a duty to correct it, said Maryann Maltese. Today is our day-Women who won the Right to Suffrage-the new meaning of the 19th Amendment now stands for equality of wages in performances met and in taking a good hard look and streaming employment contracts to better ensure that Public Employee contracts going forward are not mediocre and meet standards of living, said Maryann Maltese.

At tonight's convention-listen to the speakers to determine if you hear what their game plan is to ensure that Women receive fairness in wages and what legislative measures they intend-if any-to implement going forward. The NYS Maltese Fairness in Wages Law needs to be implemented not only for me, but to encourage Women to come forward, and receive due compensation for outstanding job performances active or retroactively, said Maryann Maltese.

Once I'm in Albany, if Elected, there will not be reservation to implement this Legislative Bill-as it will create the necessary "watch-dog" eyes to review, and correct issues where necessary.
