Maltese will introduce bill mandating PSEG-to be dispatched 911

Maryann Maltese, Democratic Candidate for NYS Assembly 12th AD-former Regional Communications Planner for the NYS Legislature with 18 years of service recognizes that Utlity Companies such as PSEG need to be on-call, onsite at the local precincts in order to ensure full dispatch during State of Emergency Orders or Calls from Sullivians for help.

I will introduce this bill immediately to make response time to 9-11 State of Emergency Calls for Assistance be more responsive and readily available. When a State of Emergency is in effect-representatives from PSEG and the other Major Utlity companies need to be at the Local Precincts ready for dispatch to code emergencies; said Maryann Maltese. It's a cost effective measure and reduces tag team reach out by 50% and saves lives. I will introduce a bill that reimburses Local Fire Department personnel who take electrical education CE courses at Boces or nearby technical schools so that Volunteer Fire Fighters have the skill and licensure to extinguish electrical fires. There should not be an insurance issue here for Volunteer Fighters responding to emergencies as if they have approval to be in the Fire Department as certified volunteers-then they are covered by the Department's insurance coverages-because no one wants a repeat of 9-11 volunteer responders having issues if they are hurt on the job.

This Law was introduced by Members I was employed with for 18 years; and if I'm elected-the above will continue with my advocacy for Volunteer Fire Fighters and those emergency services that respond to State of Emergency Orders. 9-11 taught us many things-my years of Crisis Management on the Legislative and Community Fronts will be an asset to the 12th AD and New Yorkers Statewide as we in the 12th AD will be a strong force going forward in Statewide policy. This is another reason I have tossed my hat into the race for NYS Assembly 12th AD. I have had the good fortune to sit back and be a civilian for a few years- now, I'm bored; and I'm ready to re-enter public service with the support of our community.

In front of my home I had a burning electrical wire for over 14 hours due to Tropical Storm I and that was scary because the flame burned throughout the night-making it difficult to shut it down or emergency responders to get to my house. Many residents depend on life support equipment or breathing machines so shutting down live wire may not always be the answer-but that remains to be seen here on Ringler Drive, but I mention it because it is one of the strongest reasons not to turn off the power immediately, said Maryann Maltese.

Hurricane Sandy was downplayed and destroyed more sections of Long Island than anticipated and this little version of that storm-created significant damages as well. However, Storm Sandy did not foster the introduction of Laws requiring representatives to be dispatched directly for the Local Precinct jurisdictions-this is where they need to be on-call from during declared or statewide orders preparing for State of Emergencies. State of Emergencies are mainly called due to weather issues and having the Representatives at the Precinct during such calls improves response times,improves public safety, is pro-active in thinking how to manage issues that arise during State of Emergencies, Reduces-Finger pointing of which entity is responsible and who isn't and is cost effective for the insurance companies going forward. It's a win-for all of us in the business of protecting lives and trying to make sure that when Weather Oriented State of Emergencies take impact-that Emergency services and the dispatch thereof are better organized.

That is why I will introduce this bill immediately upon taking office in NYS Assembly 12th AD, said Maryann. Maryann Maltese has assisted Volunteer Ambulance and Fire Departments with Grant writing to replace and restore emergency equipment too. I have assisted in securing funding to replace outdated ambulances and fire trucks too-approximately 5 of them over 18 years of service. I would hope that sends a message to those Volunteers in emergency services they have a friend who supports their missions-and here on Long Island-it is our life-blood, said Maryann Maltese
