Man Suffers Minor Injuries in Fiery Dix Hills Crash
Accident occurred on Northern State, officials said

A man suffered non-life threatening injuries after his car struck a tree and burst into flames on the Northern State Parkway Sunday evening, authorities said.
Rescuers responding to the accident at 6:47 p.m. said the driver crashed his Subaru Outback into a tree on the shoulder of the parkway’s eastbound lanes near the Deer Park Avenue exit.

The driver managed to escape, and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad, officials said.
Dix Hills Fire Department volunteers along with emergency personnel responded, where firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters responded with an engine, two heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances, paramedic and first responder units, under the command of Chief Bill Stio, and Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Alan Berkowitz.
No word yet as to the cause of the accident.
