Bill Would Permit 'New York' Beer Sales at Wineries
A would not only create a distinct, "New York State-labeled" beer for certain brews, but would allow wineries to sell NYS-labeled beer for off-premises consumption in an effort to promote the locally-grown products.

A similar bill, which called for creating farm breweries but made no mention of selling beer at wineries, didn't make it through the state legislature last year. But as Cuomo continues to promote an "Open for Business" platform he announced soon after taking office, the provision was added with the intention of promoting both homegrown industries.

Three teens who entered an abandoned building at the former Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital had to be rescued by police and fire crews Monday afternoon. According to State Park Police, the teens, who are from Commack, Smithtown and Hauppauge, had climbed a tree and entered Building 93 through a broken window. “The teens got up to the eleventh floor, where they entered a room. The door closed behind them and they were unable to get back out,” said park police Sgt. Anthony Catalano. They were rescued after one of the teens used a cellphone to call 911. They were charged with trespassing and released to their parents.
While news of Tim Tebow's arrival in New York hit media outlets far and wide this week, one group of students was particularly excited to hear that the quarterback is coming to town. Last December, a group of Riverhead High School students made national headlines themselves, as a after administrators said they had been warned about blocking the halls in the past. The kids told Yahoo! sports at the time that the display was "out of respect for Tebow, and because 'Tebowing' is the new thing to do."
East Hampton notable Alec Baldwin is asking people to boycott circuses that use trained elephants in a recently released video that claims to expose the harsh treatment of the animals. The video is coming out as the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus gets ready to kick off . On Monday, trainers led elephants in a parade through East Garden City to the Coliseum. Warning: Baldwin's PETA video show animals being beaten and may be unsettling to some viewers.
Long Beach Seeks to Borrow $6 Million
Nearly four months after the City of Long Beach to cover a shortfall in the city’s payroll and retirement payout, the City Council will be asked to consider another borrowing plan next week.
