Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Costello And Oreo
"Costello and Oreo have been overlooked repeatedly," Lora Wild, a volunteer at the Northport Cat Rescue Association, says.

NORTHPORT, NY — Costello, a 6-year-old male cat, and Oreo, a 2-year-old female cat, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cats of the Week.
Oreo spent 3 months hiding behind a wall in an empty apartment, coming out only to eat because neighbors would leave food for her, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue. The rescue trapped her and brought her to the shelter.
"She has been in foster care for quite a while," Wild told Patch. "She is still very timid, but once she trusts, she LOVES to be pet and get belly rubs. She loves to look out a window. She loves to just be part of a home."

Oreo has a "boyfriend" in the same foster home: Costello, according to Wild.
"He loves her and she adores him," Wild said.

Costello is FIV positive, Oreo is not.
"The only way to contract it is CAT TO CAT and ONLY through a deep bite wound, or occasionally from mom cat to baby cat thru nursing," Wild said. "Not through casual contact. Costello does not have a mean bone in his body. It is a misconception that a FIV positive diagnosis is deadly. Typically, there is no difference between the lifespan of FIV-positive and FIV-negative cats, and it doesn’t come with life-threatening effects."
Costello is a mush and is healthy, Wild said.
"He has so much love to give and is just as deserving of a loving forever home as any other cat," she said. "Are you or someone you know looking to adopt 2 adult cats? Costello and Oreo have been overlooked repeatedly. Costello just wants a warm lap to lay on. He will follow you around like a puppy asking for love. Oreo just wants to lay in the same room as Costello. Once she trusts you, she adores being pet. They need a miracle. Someone that will give them a chance."
They are spayed or neutered, and both have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped.
