Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Grayson And Pearl
Pearl, 10 years old, and Grayson, 18 months old, are the featured cats. Pearl's mother of 10 years recently died.

NORTHPORT, NY — Pearl, a 10-year-old female cat, and Grayson, an 18-month-old male kitten, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cats of the Week.
Pearl is a female who loves to have her black fur brushed, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.
"Her story is a sad one, as her mom of 10 years passed away last year," Wild said. "Pearl and her siblings that she lived her entire life with, found themselves separated and confused. Pearl has been living in our rescue cottage, but desperately misses living in a home with people."

Pearl loves to curl up and sleep in a cozy spot next to someone who will love her. She is quite chatty and makes the biggest biscuits one has ever seen, Wild said.
"She is 10 years young…but has the attitude of a kitten and tons of life in her," Wild said. "She very much enjoys the company of other kitties but does best with confident cats. She gets nervous in new settings and will be timid until she is comfortable, but then she will be your best friend and give you all the affection she has in her. She is not fond of being picked up, but if you wrap her up, she will let you hold her. Her life has been turned upside down, and she has so much love to give, we just want her to finally find someone that needs her as much as Pearl needs them."

Grayson is a boy with soft gray and white fur — the softest, Wild said. The 1-and-a-half-year-old cat had a "rough" start to life, Wild said.
"He was found in a colony, friendly as can be and quite confused as to why he was there," Wild said. "We believe he may have been abandoned there, which is extremely difficult for a cat that does not know the ropes of the streets. Each time someone would come to feed the colony he would run over and beg to be pet. We just had to get him off the streets, and so we took him into rescue. He is extremely grateful and affectionate. He loves people, head butts and other cats too. He is one of the most loving rescues some of our volunteers have ever met. Grayson is looking for a home that will never abandon him again."
They are both spayed or neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
