NORTHPORT, NY — Shrimp and Sardine, a pair of male kittens who are around 11-months-old, were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. They are a bonded duo and love each other very much, Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, told Patch.

"When you are a shelter pet - you get use to waiting," Wild said. "Waiting for that family that is willing to take a chance."

Shrimp and Sardine are brothers and as loving as can be, according to Wild.

"Shrimp, a quiet kitty with a beautiful heart, has silky black fur and loves to be pet," she said. "He seems to look after his sweet and silly brother Sardine, a tuxedo little boy, who loves to play almost as much as they both love to snuggle. Both unaware of what a furever home feels like, yet hoping to find one together."

Shrimp and Sardine should be adopted into the same home where they can grow up with each other, Wild said.

Nelson, last week's Northport featured pet, is still waiting for his home, as well.

"Waiting waiting waiting...every person that shows them love is helping them through their journey and yet they hope that every person who shows them love will be 'their' person," Wild said. "Whether a kitten or a cat, they all wait with patience and dignity for their furever homes ...maybe that can be you?"

They are both neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV Negative.

The rescue is not doing face-to-face meetings with interested families until the coronavirus passes, but it's taking adoption applications to begin the process. Personal information won't be shared, Wild said.
