The Sun-Light law and the Stolen Valor Act law helps protect veterans in different ways.

Northport American Legion Members recently honored Legislator William “Doc” Spencer with a distinguished community service award for his commitment to veterans’ affairs.
Spencer’s sponsorship and passage of the Sun-Light law and the Stolen Valor Act law helps protect veterans in different ways.
- The Sun-Light law guards against unscrupulous fundraising practices
- The Stolen Valor Act is a local law that protects the honor of decorated veterans, demonstrates a commitment and dedication to Suffolk County veterans and their families.
“I was very fortunate to have been a part of a team of local veterans committed to making these transformative laws a reality,” Spencer, who was honored last week, said in a press release. “I am humbled to work with these true American heroes. I will continue to fight every day to make sure our veterans have what they need and their honor is protected.”
