A light night saw only ten defendants appear before Judge Paul Senzer on March 21.

Prisoner Case
Christopher B. Loughlin, currently a prisoner in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility at Central Islip for t, was presented before the court on charges of second-degree aggravated harassment and second-degree criminal tresspass, stemming from two separate incidents that occurred on March 28 and May 21 of last year. Loughlin was also arrested twice on two separate occasions for the two same crimes .

Dispositions
A minor student was granted an application for a six-month adjournment with contemplation of dismissal after a relative appearing in lieu of counsel reported to the judge that the defendant had completed 70 hours of community service. The defendant will have the case sealed and dismissed on Sept. 19, 2011 as long as they do not break any laws in the interim. Judge Paul Senzer commended the defendant's parents for the support they provided.

Robert Kraatz, 20, pleaded guilty to an 1180-A violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, a non-classified speeding ticket. He received the ticket originally on January 17 after his 2005 Nissan was pulled over near the intersection of Fort Salonga Road and Logan Hill Road. He was sentenced to a $100 fine and a $85 surcharge, with a pay-by date of April 4.

Douglas Caldwell had a ticket reduced to a 1201-A parking violation because of his good driving history. He received the original ticket on February 11. He was sentenced to a $50 fine without a surcharge.

Arraignments
Zachary Baum, 18, of Eaton's Neck, was arraigned on five separate counts, the most serious being a violation of section 1192-A of the New York State Vehicle Traffic Law (DWI) following when Baum allegedly turned on to Church Street from Main and crashed in to several cars that were part of a funeral procession having just left a service at . The defendant, a Northport High School student, took a brethalyzer test at the scene and registered a reading over twice the legal limit. The defendant was released on his own recognizance and will next appear in court on April 18.

Robert M. Farabaugh was arraigned on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident (NYS VTL 0600 01A). He was released on his own recognizance. The case was adjourned until April 18.

An additional arraignment of Marquez Reyes for a charge of operating a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver was adjourned until April 18 in order to provide Reyes with a Spanish interpreter.

The main purpose of this court appearance was to note a transfer in legal representation on the case from Attorney Kevin Cadden to Attorney Thomas Teresky, since Teresky was representing him in his case before the Suffolk County court. Teresky then requested a re-setting of Loughlin's bail on each case, which was set at $1,000. He will be re-produced in Northport court on April 11.

Adjournments
Attorney Kevin Cadden appeared on behalf of Glenn Foley, a North Carolina resident charged with six violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, including leaving the scene of an accident (VTL 0600 01A) and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle (VTL 0511-02A4), and an imprudent speed (VTL 1180 0A). The case was adjourned until May 16 to allow the DA's office to respond to a motion filed by the defense.

Marc V. Greene's case on charges of third-degree assault and endagering the welfare of a child was adjourned until April 25 to allow the defense's newly-appointed co-counsel time to review the case.

Elizabeth Ochoa's case charging her with first-degree criminal contempt and second degree harassment was adjourned for two weeks due to the defense attorney having difficulty getting necessary documents from the county DA's office. She will next appear in court on April 4.

With preliminary jurisdiction over felonies and general trial jurisdiction over misdemeanors, traffic infractions and local ordinance violations, Village Court is in session every Monday at 7 p.m. except state holidays in .
