Northport Fall Athletes Recognized for Sportsmanship

The 42 fall teams include those from Northport High School, Northport Middle School and East Northport Middle School.

Coaches and fall athletes from the Northport-East Northport School District recently received School of Distinction Recognition by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) for their commitment to sportsmanship. The 42 fall teams include those from Northport High School, Northport Middle School and East Northport Middle School.

To earn this distinction, the district had to obtain a high overall rating as outlined in the Section XI sportsmanship rating program. In all sports, players and coaches rate their opponents' sportsmanship and those with high scores receive certificates.

“It makes me very proud to see recognition be given toward the coaches and athletes who work hard toward displaying positive sportsmanship at all times,” said Director of Physical Education, Athletics and Health Paul Klimuszko. “This dedication and positive sportsmanship toward opponents and officials is commended and appreciated by myself and the entire Northport-East Northport School District Central Administration. Congratulations to all involved on earning this tremendous honor.”
