Northport Fire Department Celebrates 125th Anniversary Saturday

Parade kicks off at 2 p.m., with festivities to follow.

The Northport Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a 125th anniversary parade and celebration on Saturday, with a rain date of Oct. 25.

2pm parade: Laurel Avenue School down to Northport Village Park (via Main Street)

· 25 visiting Fire and EMS departments participating in the celebration

· 14 Marching bands

· Antique Fire Trucks

· Grand Marshals: 10 Northport Firefighters each with 50+ years of volunteer community service – Peter Cross, David Weber Sr, Joseph Esposito, Paul Scherer, Wilbur Scherer Sr, Richard Lewisy, John Heist, Louis Dahl, Raymond Maloney and Eric Windus.

Following the parade: A brief ceremony in the Village Park featuring Ms Terri George singing our National Anthem followed by a benediction by our Department Chaplain Paul Latuso and welcoming words from our Chief of Department Joseph Pansini.

Many of local elected officials are expected to be in attendance.

· A Battle of the Marching Bands competition in the Village Park. Who will take away bragging rights for Long Island’s 2014 Marching Band of the Year?

· Hot and cold refreshments available in the park or at any of our wonderful restaurants/pubs/eateries in the downtown Northport Village area.

· Commemorative 125th Anniversary color print of Northport Fire Headquarters, pint sized beverage glasses, and t-shirts of all sizes available for purchase while quantities last.
