Northport Firefighters Climb 110 Flights to Honor 9/11 Heroes

Two Northport firefighters climbed up 110 flights of stairs Friday in memory of the responders who were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Former marine Robert A. Gartner and Austin Stack completed the 110-story stair climb challenge held at Citi Field.

The 2,200 steps they took at the stadium symbolizes the 110 flights of stairs the firefighters climbed at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Proceeds from the National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters went to assisting the families of the 343 firefighters that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
