Northport Forum To Give First-Hand Look Into Drug/Alcohol Abuse
All are invited to attend this this forum, which is a cross between general education and a scared straight approach.

Residents are invited to attend an anti-drug and alcohol forum called "Be Smart, Don't Start," which will be held in Northport on Tuesday, April 25.
This forum, a cross between general education and a scared straight approach, is geared towards middle schoolers to give them a first-hand look into the dangers of drug and alcohol use. The program is designed to be relevant to kids up to 12th grade, but all members of the community are invited to attend.
"Be Smart, Don't Start" kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Northport Fire Department, located at 204 Main St.

The forums typically include presentations from recovering addicts, loved ones of overdose victims and first responders such as police officers and EMS personnel.
This program was developed by Assistant Chief Dominic Spada of the Halesite Fire Department and it has successfully been presented to communities throughout Long Island.

The Northport Fire Department is hosting the event while the the Northport Police Department and the Northport/East Northport Drug and Alcohol Task Force are event co-sponsors.
