Northport Freshman to Have Composition Featured at National Festival

A Northport High School freshman was selected to have his musical composition featured at this year’s National Association for Music Education All National Festival.

Peter Mainetti’s composition “Battle of the Strings” was selected from entrants nationwide to be honored at the national festival.

“Peter has created original compositions at a high level, way beyond his years.” Northport High School Music Theory teacher Frank Doyle said. “He has a unique ability to develop his ideas at the piano and transform them into colorful orchestrations.”

“Battle of the Strings” has also earned a New York State School Music Association All-State designation.

The 2015 National Conference will take place on Oct. 28 at the Gaylord, Opryland, in Nashville, Tennessee.
