Northport Girls Lacrosse Teams Dominant In Regular Season
The varsity team finished the season in first place with a 15-1 overall record, while the JV team went undefeated.
NORTHPORT, NY--Northport High School appears to be a hotbed of Long Island girls lacrosse talent. The school's varsity lacrosse program finished the season with a 15-1 overall record, and 13-1 within the conference. Their overall record propelled them to first place in the Division I standings. Meanwhile, the junior varsity team went undefeated.
The next step for the varsity team is the postseason. The girls will have home-field advantage in their playoff opener on May 20. Should they continue to advance, the postseason schedule looks like this:
- May 20, 4:30 p.m. - playoff, Northport
- May 23, 4 p.m. - playoffs, Location TBD
- May 30, 4 p.m. - Division I Championship, Farmingdale College
- June 1, 2:30 p.m. - Regionals, Adelphi
- June 7 and 8 - State Finals, Cortland
Danielle Pavinelli led the way for Northport with 74 goals and 26 assists; her 100 points led all Suffolk County players. Olivia Carner notched 39 goals and 31 assists. Kaylie Mackiewicz scored 29 goals and 10 assists. Kate McLam added 27 goals and 26 assists. Natalie Miller chipped in with 18 goals and 9 assists. Goaltender Claire Morris made 105 saves on the year.

The season is complete for the junior varsity team, which mostly consists of 9th and 10th graders. However, eight players (including three 8th graders) have been asked to join the varsity team for its postseason run. They are:
- Hannah Gaumont
- Cami Tyrer
- Jolie Benabe
- Abby Fortuna
- Angelina Longo
- Grace McCarthy (8th)
- Megan Morris (8th; goaltender and sister of Claire Morris)
- Emma McLam (8th; sister of Kate McLam)
