Northport High School Marching Band Returns To Band Camp
"A year ago today, I was probably on a Zoom call with the kids in my rank trying to teach them to march," Band President Braden Ciszek says.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport High School marching band returned to band camp this year following a lost 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release from the school district.
The camp, which usually takes place at The State University of New York at Farmingdale, took place at Veterans Park this year due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, students were able to practice their routines and prepare for the year ahead.
"A year ago today, I was probably on a Zoom call with the kids in my rank trying to teach them to march and now we have 200 kids on a field actually doing stuff again," Band President Braden Ciszek said via release. "It’s going to be cool to go out there and show that we didn’t really lose much last year as a program. We have a full show; we’re spelling out Tigers!"

Led by Marching Band Director Lynn Cromeyn and members of the district music department, the camp lasted one week with a final performance at the end; a culmination of students’ hard work and dedication to their craft. On breaks, students had the opportunity to hang out in their very own "Olympic Village," made of mini-golf sets and various arcade games to build relationships between members.
For lunch, students enjoyed meals from local restaurants and vendors, helping to support the Northport-East Northport businesses.

The students and staff showed that with some ingenuity and dedication, anything is possible to achieve, the district stated.
"All of the members, from the percussionists to the Tigerettes and everyone in between, showed a passion and excitement for what’s to come this fall," the district wrote.
