Northport High School Students Celebrate the Holidays With Tasty Treats

Members of the Future Educators Association worked with local 3 and 4-year-olds to make fresh holiday treats.

Members of the Future Educators Association (FEA) club at Northport High School recently created holiday treats on with 3 and 4-year-olds in the school’s early childhood program.

The FEA, a club in the human development section of the school’s family and consumer sciences department, includes a cooking club that invites those early childhood education students from the program to attend after school once a month.

On Dec. 14, the high school students worked one on one with the children to create fresh pretzels, cookies and a Christmas tree made out of an ice-cream cone.

“It’s a lot of fun,” Ariana Ruggero, a 10th grade student, said. “We work with these children throughout the year so it’s great to be with them after school as well.”

While the children waited for their treats to bake, the high school students put on a puppet show for their entertainment.

Many of the children enjoyed the show, clapping and laughing throughout the performance.

A number of senior helpers assisted with the baking while the puppet show took place. Many of these students are hoping to pursue education after graduating.

Senior Eliza Goz has been a part of the club and early childhood education program during her whole high school career.

“This is what I’m going to miss the most when I graduate,” she said.
