Northport HS Senior Named News 12 Long Island Scholar Athlete
Andrew Miller earned a $1,000 scholarship and plans to attend West Point on a lacrosse scholarship next year.

NORTHPORT, NY — Andrew Miller, a senior at Northport High School, was named a News 12 Long Island scholar athlete, according to the school district. He earned a $1,000 scholarship from Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
Miller is a three-season athlete, playing football, basketball and lacrosse. He is set to attend
West Point on a lacrosse scholarship next year.
Throughout his high school career, Miller has scored countless points for his respective teams, the district stated. During the 2021-22 lacrosse season, he helped bring the team to the state finals after securing the Long Island championship as an all-star long pole midfielder.

"Andrew is a powerhouse both on the field and off," Mark Dantuono, director of the district's health, physical education and athletics, said via news release. "His commitment, sportsmanship, strong work ethic and humble attitude have made him the definition of a Northport Tiger. I have no doubt that he is going to be successful in the future and that West Point is lucky to have him."
Since Miller joined the lacrosse team in his freshman year, he has been a leader and positive influence on his teammates, said his coach, Larry Cerasi.

"We’re looking for to another successful season with him this spring and wish him success as he heads to West Point next year," Cerasi said.
As a News 12 scholar athlete, Miller was featured on the network and will be invited to attend the annual awards dinner later this year.
He plans to pursue a career in medicine and is looking forward to furthering his studies and joining the lacrosse team at West Point, the district said.
