Northport Officers Revive Unconscious Newborn Baby Girl
The baby was not breathing and had turned a dark blue color when officers arrived Saturday night, police say.

Northport Police officers were able to revive a baby girl who was not breathing after being born on a bathroom floor Saturday night.
According to authorities, officers responded to a 911 call for an active maternity at a Fifth Avenue home at 5:05 p.m. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the man on the phone with the 911 operator said the baby had been born on the bathroom floor.
The dispatcher gave the caller instructions on how to care for the baby, but it soon became clear the baby was not breathing so the dispatcher gave protocol instructions on how to revive the newborn.

The officers arrived to the home to find the mother sitting on the bathroom floor with the unconscious baby, who turned a dark blue color, in her arms with the umbilical cord still attached, police say.
One of the officers determined the baby had a complete airway obstruction and attempted to clear the airway using her fingers to no avail. The officers then located an eyedropper in the home and began using it to remove fluid from the baby’s nose, mouth and throat.
